Puffer eggs?

I know it's totally probably some kind of fungai but I just wanted to check. My one plant has a set of leaves covered in little black balls. If it wasn't for the fact that they're balls I'd have just assumed they were fungus. But I wanted to check. Because if my puffers somehow bread I'm going to be the most proud parent around town.

Looks like black brush algae, definatly not like any fish egg I've ever seen.

Puffer eggs are clear, orange, or yellow, but not black. Figure eight puffers do not scatter their eggs on leaves, but lay them on the substrate or a flat rock on the bottom.

I don't think anyone has bred Figure 8s in captivity either. It's algae.
