My redbelly is just a baby at 3.5". Lets see some pics of these beasts. Give this true monster some love.

BEHOLD FIGWIT!
(That's a 14" oscar next to him!) He was pushing 19" when he was adopted by a cichlid breeder. A BEAUTIFUL FISH!

my gar jumped out today but i just picked him up and threw him back in the tank and he is swimming fine... needless to say i covered the holes so it wont happen again.

the tank they are in is 105 gallon... bought the tank and stand and lid from my buddy for 75$

come get them you can have all three.. 2 big ones and the 1 little fellow.. the 3rd big guy died..
Mine will be in a jumbo tank soon but he already has tankmates that will also grow large (RTGG, Giraffe cat, 5 Tinfoils, and 3 clowns) so no room for more monster pacu. Good luck finding a home.
Someone must have a Pacu larger than 19" ???

Nice pix guys, I was thinking about getting one but im unsure whether or not it would get along with my silver aro? I have a 180G so im pretty sure I have enuf room, but im more worried about aggression. Any comments???

I only have a 6"er but mines has suprised me w/ his aggression .Check out this thread (http://69.16.200.107/forums/showthread.php?t=4979) to hear my sad story.So far the one i have hasnt shown any 'shy skittish,peaceful tendancies' and yeah mine goes nuts for shrimp ,peices of fish as well as veggies and pellets.

ive got a 10-12" red belly, hes in a 55, how long can he stay in there? neat fish, but ive had him for 8 months tops and was only 2" when i got him, growing to fast for me.

mine was 14" and peaceful, lived with a red tiger oscar and a pleco. Until the oscar got issues and battered him one night. He was that far gone i had to put him out of his misery. Poor thing!!!!!!!!! :(

very, very nice fish rocky! i have seen some giant pacus in the aquarium at the toledo zoo... but that is not a private collection!
as for the 55 gal thing.... not even close for even a medium sized pacu.....

We just lost our Black Pacu last month...he was 28 years old and about 40 pounds....
I'm sorry for your loss. Are you the lady that swims with your pacu? I'm pretty sure you are. Good stuff :thumbsup: I remember reading a thread you posted and was thinking you are a VERY dedicated fish keeper :clap

id say its very uncommon since theyre more vegetarian but weve all said it before...big fish eat little fish.

i had a pacu that was 20 but after it ate everything in my tank and killed my bubble rock it ate threw a wire from the filter that accidentally fell in the pool and got electrocuted. it was too bad because that was the craziest fish ive ever seen. i think the guy that sold it to me lied and actually sold me a pirhana instead of a pacu lol

How sweet he is... round and healthy...mine are a little banged up since theres two and they race each other back and forth, and then there are Oscars in there {they are coming out this week} they pick on the pacu.. i see you have little fish in with him and that is what i plan to do..they are really peaceful natured fish and would enjoy some small ones to swim with.. very nice picture.

I've got two 18" incherswith a oscar and the two pacus beat the snot out of each other. One night I heard a huge splash in my aquarium and went to check it out. The oscar was knocked out cold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:ROFL:

I was in Vegas and was at shark reef at mandalay bay and bam they have a huge freshwater setup with some other really cool amazon fish and they have a 3 foot Pacu in there!

well i quess the Pacu had enough .. maybe ..but every fish is different.. Did the Oscar recover... I know just the sheer weight and force of a pacu can be something to reckon with.. i am always afraid they will break the glass of the 220 gal tank they are in... and that would be a definite disaster........

Here is alittle something for ya-Sorry for the quality it was taken with my camera!!!But it will give you an idea!!!My tank is a standard 125gal-with exeptional filtration-I did however just order a 240 gal!!!Then i can break up some of the fish and house them more properly!!!!

Well what ever your doing keep on doing it because they really glisten!! Here is mine.. i tried to measure by putting up a yard stick ... they are big ..but the male is bigger then the female and she kept going in the front of the yard stick.. then i had them both..haha so between the two theres definitly a yard of pacu

Thanks for the kinds words!!!I run actinic lights-as well as a combo of high out put daylight bulbs as well.It makes for a good combo-Yeah they need the upgrade as well!!!!!

Do you use this lighting because of the location that you live? Especially when you have 24 hours of night{how long} so you need the special lighting?

how do u teach pacus to hand feed.everytime i go near the tank when the lights on , he freaks out.hes already knocked his cave over.iv noticed since the cave incident,hes started to calm down,but only a little

Not really-i just wasn't satisfied with the look of my tank,with just running daylight bulbs.So I played around with many different combonations before i got the look i wanted-has absolutely nothing to do with the location I live!!!!!

How big are we talking here!!!!When young it is easy to train animals as long as you have the time to invest into doing this-it's not easy by n e means!!!!
