You should not post pictures of Marge without giving credit to Emma Tuner! More pics of her prize clown loach are located at www.loaches.com

Clown loaches are supposed to get this large with proper care. Due to improper care most clown loaches never reach this size as it takes many years.

Marge is fat or deformed from stunting. Peep these pics of similar sized loaches with normal body shape:

I'm not slamming the owner... she's done a great job of raising her loaches. The problem is, we as aquarists don't replicate the natural fast flowing streams/rivers where these fish come from. In their natural environment, theres currents for them to swim in which keeps them slim and in shape.
In our aquariums (where most don't have fast flowing water in a single direction), they get fat and just sit on the bottom of the tank most times. Unless we take care to not over feed them.
My loaches will reach 12" some day, and they'll look nothing like Marge.

i don't think marge is deformed...she's a beauty..probly fat cause she has eggs in her, the females are always plumper...plus i think they just look like that...fish don't really get fat...and it's totally normal for their colors to dull like that when they are grown.. i only wish my clowns will grow to b that big and beautiful. right now they are only tiny, about 1 and 2 inches, but i just got them a couple months ago, and the first one has already doubled in size
what do you mean fish dont get fat?

Its ugly. It has no color!
Did you expect most fish to retain their color as they mature? Marge reached that size under proper care by Emma Turner.:)

i'm pretty sure that the fish is both "fat" and VERY gravid. Loaches get esp. fat when breeding and i'm pretty sure that marge is an extreme example. The way I understand it they have super expansive eggs.

That picture dowsnt do Marge justice...The fact that Ema Turner has raised her to her current size is a testament to her great care for her loaches. Most of us don't keep Clowns for that long, much less considering their growth rate. Marge may be a bit fat, but my bet is she extremely gravid. All clowns lose their color as they grow...here is a vid of Ema's tank, including marge...you get a better idea and appreciation for well taken care of clowns :)

Perhaps it would be better, before making disparaging comments, to check out the forums at loaches.com
Here you will be able to find out all about Marge and the IDEAL conditions in which she is kept.
You will also be able to see many more photos of Marge taken by her owner, Emma Turner, a recognised expert on loaches.
