i just recently got the visi-jet protien skimmer. no matter how i tweak it i never get enough foam to reach the collection cup and if i am at a point where im creating the most foam i can a bunch of bubbles are spilling out the bottom of the reaction chamber. any ideas.

Phil,

It sounds like your skimmer needs some time to break in. Let it over flow back into the tank for a bit and then eventually it will all straigten out.

just for curiositys sake, any estimation on how long. i have heard quite a diversity of time frames to look at. from 2hrs to 5days.

Well also, if you cvan turn down the pump, that will slow down the flow. As Radley said, you do have to let it break in, any where from about 1 day to 2 weeks. Usually within the first week. I hate the spilling over plan because you can lower the level in the tank quickly and over flow you cup and then it is like you are back to square 1. If you cannot reduce pump flow, then reduce the amount of air that is coming in.

the worst part of the situation is that the tank is at my girlfriends, and that means i dont see it all day, she can feed them just fine and check temp and stuff, but when it gets a bit technical she just waits for me. so ill have to go check on it tommorow.
oh well thats what you have to do when you run out of room for tanks at your own place. hahah

Try taking a bio ball and cutting it to fit on the impeller. This worked for my Seaclone 100.
