i'm thinking about mixing a 28" cobra SH, 18" gator gar and a 14" gator gar... do you think it will work... i'm probably gonna keep them in a 135g... I kind of want to create one of those japanese style tank buster tanks.

I don't see any problems mixing them. From my experience gars make good snakehead tank mates.

i heard MD lifted its ban on snakehead except for the northern snake head which can survive over winter so maybe other states did something like that too.

I think that's just a rumor. The ban is federal, not state, so how would that be possible?

well i guess the gar can defend itself, besides gars have thick armour like scales..rock solid!! just keep them well fed to avoid any problem,,but im sure you wont have any...just do regular partial water change because gars doesnt like amonias that much.. i have a gar died by dirty (clouded) water this is a result of laziness

call me crazy, but isnt 135g for 2 gators and a cobra a tad on the small side?

Yeah, a 135 is just about too small for an adult cobra to be comfortable in alone.

I'm closing this thread due to it being a CA member looking for info on keeping 2 illegal species. Plus, it's obvious there's little concern for the fish since a 135 is already way too small for an 18" gar to turn around in.

I think this can be done?... (although I would grow the gator gars out a little bit more larger?) How is the personality & temperment of your cobra like? highly mean??... intolerant of tankmates?? etc.? :uhoh: If you do happen to try mixing them, do keep us posted please. I am curious to know also. GL!
