Hey,

I was wondering if fugus are brackish and do they have to be kept with other puffers or isolated? How aggressive are these guys?

Takifugu puffers are aggressive to alot of other fish, I had mine in a freshwater for a while with a TSN and black ghost with no problems for a while, if I introduced a new fish, the puffer would attack it. They do have to go into brackish eventually with a higher ph. Usually within a year old. Some say you can keep scats or monos with them because they are fast enough to get away but I suggest to keep them alone.

Oh and have a sand substrate because they love to bury and hide in the sand when they sleep, about 3-4 inches deep minimum.

I have read that the most commonly offered takifugu puffer is in fact a coldwater to temperate fish and as such should be kept at lower than tropical temperatures (20 degrees C and below).

If you do have the puffer at tropical levels, try and maintain vigorous surface agitation to ensure the oxygen levels are as high as possible.
