I don't think its because they are mean, I just think its because if they got out into our lakes and streams our native fish would be screwed.

Let me start by saying I love these fish and have done for years. There are snakeheads and there are SNAKEHEADS! Of the 28 different species, only one, the northern snakehead ( Channa argus ) that could possibly pose a threat to fish life in the rivers and lakes of the USA.(northern snakehead can survive winters ok there are others but that’s the one that’s caused all the :screwy: ). The tropical species would not suffer the winters so should not be banned but that’s just me. As for pit-bulls yes it’s the same as pits they have a bad rep so should we destroy all dogs same as snakeheads should we destroy all snakeheads. There is something for every one with these fish from small to large from calm to killer take your pick same as you would with a dog.

it's not only happen in US.. it's also happen in malaysia and snakehead is native fish in malaysia.. most of people here also hate snakehead, scare of snakehead.. i always hear people been bite by snakehead that swimming in lake in malaysia especially by giant snakehead, some of them loss their leg, hand, finger and even die because of snakehead attack!!
i also hear some local people saw snakehead as big as bus here.. i also hear that snakehead jump and eat adult monkey while hanging on tree.. my friend also been bite by snakehead while playing in lake side and his hand was injured.. local people here scare to do activity in lake such as swimming because affraid of snakehead attack.. i hear too many bad new about snakehead here and make bad reputation of snakehead..
my family and most of my relative also not encourage me to keep those snakehead.. for them, snakehead is bad, aggresive, dangerous.. they scare children put their hand in aquarium and get bite by snakehead..
although snakehead is native fish here and easy to find here.. only few people dare to keep those monster as pet..
but no one can stop me to continue keep those monster.. i like them so much.. :) :)

The northern snakehead or Chinese snakehead (Channa argus) is a fish native to China, Russia, and Korea.
Channa micropeltes like temps of Temperature 22-28 but Channa argus has the advantage of being able to hibernate reds can't.

I'm not familiar with the different species of snakeheads, but I know we have a growing problem with snakeheads here in Florida. I think they're outlawed all over the US.
There's a baitshop by my house that hosts snakehead fishing tournaments. The guy at the bait shop told me they were introduced into the water system down here by people on waterfront property that were apparently housing them in cages (as pets or fresh food, I'm not sure), and the snakeheads spawned while in the cages and released hundreds, if not thousands, of eggs. I'm not sure how true it is, but I have seen people catch snakeheads out of the canals around here.
