is it a good idea to keep one in a 20G ? thye need a heater too right
you may want to reconsider that type of fish for a 20 gallon. all species of gar and arowana will outgrow a 20 very quickly.
you already have an arowana in a 20 gallon?
whenever i am cleaning my tank they come up to my hand
i always pull out, but they are so slow you can see them coming as long as you pay attention i think you would be find. When mine were real small they were in a 20 but they outgrew it real fast. i have a 50 now and they are soon going to be outgrowing that.
well if you put your hand in at feeding time, your asking for trouble. Hell your arowana will bite you, a lot of fish will. 20g is too small, and would be too small for any arowana so you will need to upgrade. Most gars get pretty big though.

Throwing a true gar in a pond in CA is a great way to get noticed by the wrong people. True gars are a no-no in CA.
A friend of mine got bit by my florida gar and nearly had to go to the hospital. The bleeding absolutly wouldn't stop

i just started hand feeding mine and he wanted to feed on my hand instead. plenty of blood. when my whole hand is in the tank he will not bite. so i guess they only bite when they mistake fingers for food.
