Was just wondering what kind of filter media do you keep in your filters and how often do you change it?

I keep 1 sponge in a AC300 that filters a 55g

2 sponges in 2 AC500s, and 1 sponge in another AC500, all 3 of which filter a 200g.

I clean the filters and sponges out with dechlorinated water about once every 1-2 months, depending on when they start getting clogged up. I think quantity of filter media required is a bit overrated by most people, cuz I've had absolutely no problems with my media setups.

You just keep the sponges and nothing else?

yup. no carbon, no floss, nothing. so yeah, the filters are pretty empty and could hold more. But holding more of anything would be a waste of water flow, since my biological filtration is obviously perfectly fine as is.

on my wet dry's i use only the blue-white filter media which i replace weekly. I use shotgun wadding after the drip plate which is never changed along with chemstars in the sump.
