good for you... looks like you have a good aggressive specimen...
Thanks, I'll be leaving for Uni in a month and won't be back home till x'mas. Praying that my dad remembers to take care of him for me. Not too worried coz he's taught me everything i know about keeping fish. But sometimes he goes away for business trips for awhile

they're tough buggers.... don't worry abt it...
I've always assumed that my SH was a Bleheri or a rainbow snake head, but after lookin on the net at other rainbow snakehead i've noticed that they have a orange and black stripped fin tail. Or what ever its called and mine is like a blueish colour. I also read that it could be another species of snakehead all together, what species is my snkehead?

nah... its a Bleheri... i'm 90% sure it is.
Coloration differs. I did come across 2 bleheris today, one which was a copy of yours while the other a draker specimen with the orange and black tail.
only thing i could think of was diff in coloration of the sexes... didnt buy the pair as the darker specimen was dead unfortunately.

Thare is another dwarf SH that is very similer. Sometimes thought to be a sub species or the same species, Channa sp. Assam, was sometimes known as channa Bleheri blue as it has more blue in its colouring. only reaches 5" or so.
i took a closer look at my SH today and noticed he SOMETIMES has a think orange edge to his tail. Oh well i'll just say its a bleheri. He's pretty responsive, everytime i come into my room he'll come out of the cave. Have i said that already?
nice snakehead but i think it will lose its colourful patterns when reach adulthood... am i right?
Well the store i got it from had some fully grown ones from before, and they still had their beautiful colours. But it could be another species

Sweet pickup!!!
I've taken more pictures of my snakehead, hope you enjoy them. He's getting more colour now. His colour comes out more just after i've fed him. I've also recorded a video but i have no idea how to upload it. If someone knows how please tell me. But here are the new fotos of my SH. I have my SH in a 20 gallon tank. I think its fine for him. I've read that it can grow up to 5 to 7 inches. Hopefully i have a big mutha. anyways enjoy....

Hey that's a nice piece. Used to rear 2 of them but ended up in some other fishes stomach as it was too small in size.
thanks, its my pride and joy, I'm pretty sure its a she but i'm not 100% sure. I might be getting a new one soon. but i've spent quite a bit of money on fish this summer. DOH!
Just makes me want to cross the border and buy some...sigh. Our government officials are just big idiots to ban such a beautiful fish. Although Fish and Wildlife informed me that a permit to obtain several for education purposes is available. I don't know what the ramifications or requirements are for such a permit.

I think yours is the Channa sp. Assam blue and not the bleheri. I used to have a tank of the 4 Blues (4 inches) mixed with 2 bleheris (5 inches). The bleheris died mysteriously....and gotten 2 Channa Panaw as a replacement.
