I'm not tryin to be rude but they gotta stay in the tank!!!!! They're not like a lung fish or a mudskipper. They are just normal cat's that get HUGE.

muddskippers cant breath air, they carry a sac that holds water that they take from the surounding water and they extract oxygen from it :)

Dont take offense but I found your post funny...
...your name is "Redtail _Fanatic" and your asking if they can breath out of water? With a name like that you should be a pro...or at least have read up on them.
And the answer is yes....you can even put a collar on them and take them out for a walk. (just bring a bottle of water in case it gets thirsty)

I don't see any reason why ya'll are ganging up on this guy. There is nothing wrong with his question. Many catfish can breath on land or at least gulp air. Anyone here ever heard of Clarias Batrachus?
To answer the question though, no. Nether catfish can breath out of water.

:-D Sure if properly cared for, kept at the right temperature, well filtered and all, I see no reason not to keep one in a water bed, with much modifications of course! :) Maybe building it up so you have about an 800 gallon waterbed, couldnt hurt either!
The clarius walking catfish can leave the water but not rtc's , now you know!
