When I have 0 amonia , super high nitrite and nitrate. I had like 24 goldfish in the tank and added bio spira. I got the ammonia down to 0 and only have 1 goldfish in there now. This is a 75gallon tank, and I have done a 50% w/c.

it has 2 sponge filters that are for 75gallon tanks, and a emperror400

Either underfiltered, overstocked, or not cycled.

Well It was heavily overstocked, thats why I toulk all the fish out and only have one in now. I have amazing filteration on it, so it must be that it was overstocked. Should I do some more w/c or just leave it alone now with just 1 fish?

thanks :)

Put them all back in, and do no more water changes and wait a month and then do a w/c and then everything will b 0. Your tank must not be cycled.

putting them all back might be a bit extreme but then so is only having one.

i had the same thing happen in my SW i had 0's accross the board for the first month and then the next week i had a huge nitrite spike (killed almost everthing) but that resolved with some bio filter starter and prime.

Milkman, if you even consider this advice...Your tanks should be revoked!

Unless your just in the market for new fish (and irreparably damaging the ones you have, if any did live thru it).

Do a 50% W/C and recycle the the tank (fish or fishless like you've done before).

I added bio spira when I had the fish in it. I first had 24 goldfish than My dad came home with like 20 of these bluegills that he wanted me to hold. they were like 7". So I thought my tank would be cycled sence I added the biospira 5 days ago. I put them in and then I toulk them all out and added the 1 goldfish. I believe the tank was cycled but, there was just to many fish in the tank. I'm gona go get 12 more goldfish and put them in. And keep doing w/c untill the nitrite goes down.

Is the tank new? I was under the impression the goldfish were in for cycling, and you were doing a cycle. If these fish are for your tank int the long run I wouldn't put them all in. I would add about 6 and wait out the cycle. Sorry doctor Joe. : ]
