The pet shops I frequent in Toronto sell rtg's for about $700. I have seen hbrtg go for as little as $850. Nice fish though, you wouldn't regret your purchase. I used to have a nice rtg but it jumped out in the middle of the night and my dog ate it:(
 
just start selling the cookies and doing car washes, and you'll be there in no time.

1000 GRAND IS APPROXIMATELY 8 dollars Canadian. Sounds like a good deal.
