OK im looking for help with my tank. I have a 72 gallon bow front tank thats been up and running for about 5 years. Just the other day the cross support on the tank, which is attached to the molding at the top of the tank, snapped and every lfs I talk to tells me that the tank will break unless i empty some water out (50%) to relieve the pressure on the front glass, which I did. Now my only problem is how do I fix it. I ordered a completely new piece of top molding from the lfs but its been about 2 weeks and still not in. Also, I tried to remove my old molding but couldn't do it. Any suggestions???

This is a task that will require you to drain the tank, so go buy the largest rubbermaid container you can and set up a temp home. To remove the top frame use a hacksaw and make a series of cuts near the corners and the middle of each side. I would work the short sides first, then the back and finally the front.
As for breaking, probably not right away. I had a 55gallon with a broken top brace, used it for a couple months before I repaired. It never broke but the glass would flex about 3/4 of an inch when it was full.

Thanks for the help, how difficult should it be to put the new molding on once it comes in? Do I need any sort of adhesive for it?

Use aquarium safe silicone, apply at the corners and a few spots in the middle
