so, bought an NGT and this guy is so addictive as im sure you guys know. what are the chances of housing a few other dats in the same tank. i know some guys are doin it here, but since dats cant be found that much, its not like i can buy a few more to lessen aggression. what im tryin to say, if i found one widebar right now, of equal size, would they tolerate eachother. id like to get one widebar and a thinbar to put with the NGT.
thanks guys :)

I have 2 widebars in my 120gallon and they fight every now and then but nothing big so far. I think they are better off in 3 or more but 2 is fine.

I tried the exact thing your talking about. I first got one 1"er put him in a 20Gal. Now that he's established I went to get another one same size. Dropped him in and the fight began! I had to seperate them after 30min. I didn't want to risk loosing the new one. Now in seperate tanks, they dont fight. However the tanks are next to each other and the CAN SEE EACH OTHER BETWEEN THE GLASS AND THE OLDER ONE STILL WANTS TO GET HIM!!!! Crazy. the first Dat doesnt pick on anyone really other than the second Dat.

I wouldnt try it, if you do get like 4 more to diffuse the aggression. a Pair seem to be trouble

I would say 3-4 dats minimum, especially if one is an NGT. NGTs tend to pick on other NGTs, but will also pick on other dats. I have been able to keep NGTs in groups of 3 to 6 mixed dats. NGTs tend to be more aggressive than any other dat species. For example, I have a 9" NGT in with an 11" widebar, 8" widebar, and 7" thinbar, and the NGT rules the roost.

I have both a 9" Indo and a 5" Thinbar housed in a 125g for over a year now. No fighting, ever. Great compatability. NGT'S are known to be more aggressive Dats.

2 thinbars, one 3.5" and the other 5" maybe a lil bigger... they huddle next to each other... no probs. I want a NGT!

I tried keeping 2 NGTs together and ended up with one. It was actually kinda brutal. Hes now in with some indos and widebars with no problem. They seem more territorial than the other dats. The NGT stakes out a spot and defends it, while the other dats just go wherever.

I tried my my 2 '' NGT with my 4 " NGT.............for about 2 minuits.........they are true gladiators..............mind you they were seperated into diff tanks after they both had a chance to flex their fish muscles!!! and now both fat everyday and I think they are happy!!!

i have 9 .5"-1"tigers... consisting of NGT, NTT, IT, and ST. the chase each other occasionally but nothing too serious. o yeah, they are all in a 20 gallon tank with a 4" jardini, regular pleco, and an angelfish. yes i know its over crowded, but my 50 gallon tank is over crowded too and im waiting for my 170 thats coming in tomorrow
