i've been in love with the babies forever and remember the days when the local "oddball" pet store had the little beasties in plenty of tanks... i hate that i can't find any now, and it's horrible that they're not available anymore... i want one, and would love any help on any way to get one...
Just a word of advice, don't. The penalties can be stiff though with channas at least you don't get hit with a CITES violation. You can't show it off to anyone either with out a risk that if you tick someone off, like a girlfriend, they might turn you in.
If you do get one do it locally through someone you know.

You guys are right snakeheads were some of the best fish pets,and tough.One of mine got out,was dried stiff,I figured he was a goner,when i thought i saw his eye move.I put him back in the tank and he was moving in a few hours within a month he was fine!!!

I used to have some years ago I think they banned them due to people releasing them and they are taking over and killing native fish populations (thats what I read somewhere) plus they have the ability to remain out of water for long periods of time and move from one body of water to the next. great fish though.

no, you know what REALLY annoys me?, the stupid laws that only Suth Australia has which states that we cant have any of these exotics, or lots of cichlids, im presuming it is because if the same reason, peple releasing fish......but for some reason the government/fisheries officials fail to realise that the waters in SA get to insanely low temperatures which would kill many of the fish on the illegal list in SA.....waaaa!

I saw 3 different kinds this weekend on stores!!! One is even having a 2 for 1 sale.

Yep Windsor has fish store but snakeheads are illegal in the Province of Ontario where it so happens Windsor is located.As for U.S. Customs good luck and hope they don't catch you

Snakeheads if they are available are definitely not for the squeamish. I definitely do not recommend them to people that has no room for them. There is a thriving black market for any type of exotic fish, wherever you go, because there is demand, and if you could supply, then it is your own risk. I can't believe someone was selling some Bleheri's on Aquabid. Fish and Wildlife is going to confiscate the fish now because of the ad. BooHOO. :cry:

I was laughing at Benifica540's comment on "agents" guarding the border.
