You are from Georgia? Try a local bait shop for shiners, cutlip minnows. or fathead chub, if you are near the coast try live smelt or anchovies, they should cost about the same as large feeders but you will save on shipping charges. They will also usually be healthier for your fish though I would use a salt dip or salted holding tank with them before feeding them to your fish. The salt water bait fish are better if you can get them as few possible parasites will make the transfer from salt water to fresh.

Nah... I tried to get ahold of him, and he wouldnt even respond to my email, dont waste your time.

I would try and go to your local fish store, and see if they will setup a bulk plan, just charge you like 1 or 2 cents more than what they pay, and then buy like 1000 of them or so at a time...

Bait fish are still legal in Indiana as long as they are a native species, call the local bait shops.

I have completely opposite experiences with those two fish, myself.

an issue with goldfish is the presence of a 'spine' in the anterior of the dorsal fin, this can prove problematic if the fish swallows the feeder the wrong way or further issues in the digestive system. goldfish are just not a good feeder (not that feeders in general are that great). if you have to feed feeders, as mentioned above, go with guppies or rosies. i prefer rosies since they seem to be a little less susceptible to ich and the like...although its good to quarantine feeders if you can.
DO NOT USE FEEDER GOLDFISH
they are oily not very nutritious and constant feed of them causes faty deposits on the liver they also contain very high levels of Thiaminase a destroying hormone.-Anne

Depends on where you are, in N.Dakota cutlip minnows and chub are sold 8"-12" long as bait for pike and muskies, not cheap but cheaper than gold fish the same size

Feeders=bad food=just entertainment for oneself. If you must feen them convicts or guppys, at least they'll contain less "growth hormone" than feeders do, which is hella-bad for you fish...

Don't feed your P's feeders!!! Give em some good stuff like beef heart, smelt, cat fish nuggets, silver sides or shrimp if you want your P's to look hot as hell and be healthy and happy.

Hello everyone ! I too agree with Little Waffen but if you are goning to feed them feeders then check with your lfs, I work for a lfs and we have a few people that buy their feeders in lots so we charge cost plus 10% (for shipping) and it still comes out really cheap.

Why on Earth do you need that many feeders a week?

I just used to feed my rpbs a couple small bass , catfish , or medium bluegills a week, at that time there were seven at about 9" long, they got kept in salted 20g tubs for a week first before they were fed to the rpbs, all they cost was a few earthworms and I already bought those for other fish.

But is there any real benefits to feeding live feeders to piranha? I haven't read any scientific journals on this, but personal accounts would make me believe the fish would end up more aggressive if they need said aggression to obtain food on the fly, as it were.

I just like watching them eat.
