Can anybody tell me how fast a Dat grows? I am picking one up tomorrow and she is about 3in. Im worried that my silver aro which is about 6in. will eventually and rapidly outgrow her and then eat her. :( Im hope the Dat can keep up in growth rate and doesnt become dinner!

Any ideas/comments???

Dats are notoriously sloww growers and thats why large ones fetch a nice sum.
Just keep an eye on the duo and if the aro gets to be too big , then its time to
whip out a divider to keep them separated.

Thanks Red,

I will keep an eye on him and try to get my aro hooked on pellets with an occasional cricket or goldfish feeder.

Hey Gr8KarmaSF, where are you getting the Dat from? I went all around SF and couldnt find any. Could you tell me where you're getting it from, or some other places around us that i can get one? BTW how much are they costing?

Best bet is to become a regular at a local pet shop, become friends with the manager and then ask if they special order. This was the only I was able to find one. You may also have to pay first before even seeing the thing. I paid $40 for a 3 incher. Prices also go up and down depending on where they buy their fish from, so holding out and waiting might also have to come into play.

I had a really hard time finding them here in the SF Bay. Good Luck!!!

$40 for a 3incher is not too bad for LFS prices.

Hey How About, another option you have is to special order one from a seller here, ive never done it but hear good things about them, my main concern is if they promise live delivery of fish. fugupuff seems like a cool cat!

Yea, I've been looking through the Buy/Sell section, and noticed some of them are selling dats, but my concern is the same as yours. I'll just keep my eyes out for a local seller or something. I know user dookie is selling some dats around SF, but they're big and $$$, I'd rather get them small and $.

Thanks Gr8KarmaSF
