I am moving my 55gal in between my living room and kitchen, i have a 8" slant nose gar in it right now http://www.fishtanksandponds.net/li...cius-hujeta.htm and i would like 1 or 2 more fish any suggestions? i will be adding a 150gal in a year and a half or so (when i get to finishing my basement so i plan on growing it out) i have kept large GT's, midas pikes .... in the past and have the need for a big cichlid again. I need to get something big enough that my gar won't bother it too much (and I don't want to lose my gar either )

any ideas / type and size i should try?

It is not a cichlid but it should work, one or two cachorros the same size as your hujeta.

psitticus? Uaru? Polleni?

Agression will be a factor in such a small tank, so keep singles to avoid spawning activity, and be ready to pick a favorite if a fight happens.

Good luck,

:D did a google image search..... came up with pictures of puppies... lol

do you have a full name?

piranha? uh i don't think so the tank is a bit small (48x12x18) and the gar is pretty skittish already

a small to medium size oscar should be no problems with an 8 inch gar
