I'm gonna start a larger tank (55 gal) and im thinking of adding another fish or two, preferably something thats NOT an african. I currently have 3 frontosas, 3 peacocks, 2 brichardis, and one pleco. Theyre all about 3-5 inches long.

You already have a non-african species with the pleco. Can't think of anything to add considering the fronts will tax your 55 when they approach a foot. And SA/CAs that can match the size of the fronts and peacocks will probably consider the brichardi as part of their menu. Others won't appreciate the high alkaline conditions that the africans are in.

well your first mistake is that a 55 is not large. Many people think this, but your fish will most likely out grow that tank. You will need a larger one before you can even think of adding. Remember fish to not like to swim backwards, give them room to turn around...
Start with a bigger tank. The fronts are to big for that tank themselves. Keep the mix you have just get a 90+ gal. Or keep the 55 and get rid of the Fronts.

I hate to pile on...but, just with those fish alone you will need a bigger tank than 55g.
Also, you need to consider the adult size of the fish. You should be thankful that your very protective parents (birchardi) are not spawning. or watch out- those guys are relentless in protecting their young (yes i know, even for their size.)
your birchardi are about full grown at 3-4" but their tankmates are just getting started!
