hi.
thanks for having me.
this forum is an excellent idea.
anyways, i've had my common snakehead for about 2yrs.. dont know the scietifi name, but it's jsut the common one that everyone here in Thailand use for soup.
i transfered into a new tank, and it's been 24hrs. came home, andhis nose is all banged up, and i noticed, he's still jumping.
abnormally long time for this guy to continue jumping, so i did a few things so he'll stop.
* i added a rock so he'll feel 'secure' (everything is bare, cuz i havnet decided my decor yet)
* and i noticed he doesnt like the light, swithced it off, no more jumping.
anyone else have this problem? and, i'm a bit perturbed cuz i like the light on to watch his every movement, so i can study him thoroughly and fish for his cousins in the raininy season. i catch and release btw.
thanks.

my friend had the same problem he transfered his 2' red sh to a bigger tank and once in the new tank (which he bought used) it wouldn't stop jumping he found the next day it broke his canopy and was dead on the floor. He went back were he got the tank and started talking to the people who sold it to him they told him they use to keep animals in that tank he should of asked this first off but when he got home he tested his water every thing was good exept his amonia was though the roof (its from the urine from the animals that was in it before)

incidentaly, his face has gotten slightly worse, buthe's calmed down, and has eaten a few fish... hasnt jumped all morning!

add some floating plants... fake or real, doesn't matter. Channa use plants like blankets. makes them feel more secure... will also subdue any lighting bothering it. Hopefully this helps... along w/ good water parameters. GL! ;)

here is one i got in 2003, Keang Kracharn naitonal park.
i was real lucky, cuz i used monofiliment, but that is a serious no no with giant snakehead fishing, plus, i caught this one off the shore. caught and released. :woot:
