i lost a really rare fish and others. When I mean rare I mean I might get fined a lot of money to have this fish. And I got this fish for a really cheap (for the fish i bought) price before the F&G arrested the major dealer. Of course I had some other fish like 7" widebars, 24" black arowana (aw man one of my favs, i bought him for $10.00 right when it lost its eggsac), etc.
Anyway, after 4 years of growing out my rare fishes I had to fumigate my parents house. The termites were destroying the wood like they've been smoking too much pot lately, so i had to do something. I mean it's either rare fish or a $800,000.00 house that could crumble in an earthquake if we don't do anything about the termites. I hesitated so much because I had a hunch that moving around these fishes in a new smaller container would be a bad idea, but I had to do it because my parents was forcing me to and I can't say no.
So i bought a couple of 160 gal tubs to hold my fish. I setup a tent in my backyard and put the tubs and fish in there for 1 week using the same filtration and the same water from the orginal tank.
And guess what happend? That's right, my whole tank slowly genocide on me after 4 days in the tent.
They all looked healthy and were eating. I don't know what happend. It could have been the change in the volume of water causing an ammonia spike. I was too depress to care at the time. I really felt like quitting the hobby.
Then i learned another lesson, never setup a fish tank on top of carpet. After we moved the tank, there was a whole lot of mold underneath the stand. And guess what, that's right, my folks made me replace the carpet, but instead they wanted Tile, so i spend another $4,000.00 to replace the whole living room and bathroom with new tile.
And I never really got a chance to take a good picture before they all died. :cry:
