whoa man first off ick happens in fresh and saltwater fish!
and the puffy eyes in the second stage of ick (which is bad) u need to do an emergency water change and test ur water if it came on all of a sudden then somethig got in the tanks water or it has been building and you just havnt noticed it
goodluck!

copper asap. it's drastic and should only be as last resort but this is one of those time! while treating them soak their food in garlic and lower the salinity.
this might also be velvet. not ich.

If you don't have any inverts or don't plan to ever have any then Copper is great. I would copper and do a FW dip. I have had luck soaking my fishes food in the past in Garlic Guard. I cured several fish of ick just doing that. Good Luck!

Lower the salinity to about 017 will help also if you have no corals.

LOL! I agree but in the future if he wants to use it as a a reef tank then copper will stay in the seams and cause problems.
Good point Chris lowering the salinity will work well also he can raise the temp a little too. "No corals" LOL

Actually there is no such thing as marine ich. It is called Cryptacarion.

There is Marine ick.
Remember that Copper will destroy all organisms in the tank. Your live rock ( I am assuming you have live rock ) will loose most of it's live contents. Copper is a very effective medicine, but your tank will, afterwards ( after good week of carbon to remove the copper ) have to be restarted...

It won't kill off all organisms (i.e. fish) but it will kill off all of the inverts in the tank. And I can guarantee there is no such thing as marine ich. ich is a type of freshwater parasite. People sometimes call crypt marine ich but they are completely different organisms.

I always thought Cryptocaryon is the salt water version of ich or white spot.

Cypt is usually refered to as "marine ich" because it looks visually similar to the freshwater counterpart of that name. Treatments can be similar, however, they are different.
