Get scratches from Flowerhonrs, Oscars and Aros on a regular basis..
it startles me more than it hurts...
I do remember one hard bite from my Jardini... it left deep scratches in my fingernail..
just glad it was the nail and not my skin.. :swear:

i got bit by my piranah, hes was liek 3 inch, andi wasliek pirana ar panzys, see ill stick my finger in his mouth, in when a 1/4 inch of my pinky out came, ha nothing! no more tip of my pinky! good show chap! way to use that thinker! :lol2: ive also been bit by my rd it drew blood i have a scar, he gets pissed when heds got 1000 kids to look after. once again i was demonstrating how tuff iwas! look see he'll bite but he really cant do uhc, and was i wrong!~ :grinno:
now i will wait while i am out done to the enth degree. :redface:

Lol. been nip by small pirhana but once they got around 3" I would chase them to oneside and stick in a divider if I had to stick hands in tank. Used to have a bunch of tiny bluegill 1 1/2-2" that would grab hold of my arm hairs and yank, felt wierd but doesn't count.

I have been bit by 18" Dovii, 22" African Lungfish and countless other fish but the two mentioned were the only ones that really hurt. I still have small scar on forearm where lungfish bit me. Got paid $25 for it though.

The only time I've been bitten by one of my fish it did more damage to it than me!! I was hand-feeding my 13" fire eel (the only way it would ever get food) and it mistook my finger for the cube of bloodworms! My first reaction was to pull my hand away quickly, unfortunately the eel was still attached and came flying out of the tank which was about at head height. It spend a few seconds squirming around on the carpet while I found a towel to pick it up with (lucky I remembered theyre called 'spiney eels' for a reason), but didnt seem even slightly phazed when returned to the tank where it continued to eat out of my hand!

When i was a kid i would get a pinch of tetra flakes, hold it in my fingertips
and let the goldfish kiss my fingers :naughty: I really thought that was the coolest thing.. i felt like a goldfish tamer..

and another thing , a 9 in widebar i was displayign at an auction , he was sedated to be show off out of the water for approximately 30 seconds
needless to say about 15 second in he came out of sedation and even on a hand towel gouged me very badly in my left palm , no stiches but i had to rinse it out thourghly and after that it swelled up for about a week and i had to get the puss drawn out

This one bad ass 10" Red Devil used to go after me every time I stuck in my hand in his tank to fix something. Also got shocked a whole bunch of times by a few Electric Catfish..

My 11 inch jardini has nipped my finger a number of times while I was hand feeding it. It only felt like a pinch.
yea well mines the most seriouis so far

Been bit by a common wolf fish that would NOT let go. It was like a pitbull. I was also bit by a Vampire tetra. Its tooth broke off in my finger. I think that is it for me.
how big was the hoplias? did its teeth penetrate deep? under what odd circumstances would a hydro/rhaphio bite you?

keep getting bitten by my big pbass -- bloody things always hang on to the middle finger --- get some nasty scratches that bleed quite a lot ... redtail often tries to get my fist in its gob - usually when I am holding a sardine trying to stop the pbass from nicking it !!!
Been bitten by loads of fish - needed 4 stiches when I was bitten by a 20lb pike - it was my own fault for sticking a bloody great hook in it in the first place !!!

A big Channa micropeltes got me about 11 or 12 years ago. Also an Undulate Triggerfish got a tip of my finger . While noodling for catfish ( catching them w/your hands and wrestling them out of the water during spawning season.) I got whipped pretty good by some BIG Flathead catfish(Pylodictus olivaricus). Lots of scratches and bruises. :y220e:

Wait until you get hit by a venomous species, or a powerful jaw from a puffer. Then you'll understand the capacity of some fish.

....ps my red devil swallowed my whole index finder, i hand feed him bbut he had babies and was a lil over excited.
i also go the tip of my pinky finger bitten off by a red belly, but aht was my fault. i was trying to show my frenids taht paranah are panzy fish.... i had one ina net while moving him and i stuck my finger up angainst his lips :screwy: , and he snapped a peacie rigth out, like no effort. i then determined that piranah may be skiddish but they got the equpment to do some damage :grinyes:

Breading pairs....always, just tryin to help them out...devils drew blood though. I have to say the worst though was forgetting if the light was on or off, leaving it still plugged in, while trying to fix a ballast and rewire one of the strips on the 120. That sat me on my a** with a racing heart, deep breaths and just looking back at the light wanting to beat it down....only it can't be beat up :angryfire Anyways....unplug sh** before you stick your hands in it!!! :evil_lol:

I have been bit by a miniatus grouper, a few triggerfish, a moray eel (which cut me pretty good) , my silver aro, and a lung fish.
You would think Id keep my hands out of the tank!

i love to teach my oscar to bite my finger when he thinks hes gonna get fed he bites and hangs on for a sec then he lets go and i feed him a treat, i luv him:hearts: :hearts: ... he also leaves little scratches on my finger nail nothing more though...

Noodling is taking flathead catfish by sticking your hand in a hole and hoping it's a flathead catfish that bites on... Noodling is done in the spawning season cause the mail guards the eggs in the hole... Usually u wear a glove and the guys that do this are usually missing fingers...

Big fish have big bites... I wouldn't worry to much about the catfish's bite though... I'd worry about the beaver/snapping turtle/ whatever else is in the hole...

Got bit by one of my piranha once, the fish was about 4 or 5 inches at most. Had 3 of them in the tank, usually they went to the other side when I was rearranging the plastic plants etc. but one snuck over and bit me to my surprise I yanked my hand out fast. The type of bite was not what I expected, I was lucky it did not take a chunk out but the bite was exactly what you would get if you took a razor blade and made a slice to your finger. Also lucky he was not too mad the bite was not extremely deep but deep enough. For large piranha its best not to take any chances and put in a seperator if needed.

I was trying to feed my lion fish a shrimp one day and my 2 foot snowflake sprinted from the other side of the tank (150g) and latched onto my finger. like a fool I shook my hand in fear, his teeth sliced down my finger like razor blades....

I used to pet our pacu all the time when we did massive daily gravel vacs and water changes in the overcrowded 55 gallon tank our rescued fish came in. The tank was so chock full of fish, there was no way not to touch the fish when gravel vacuuming. The pacu liked to come up and swim in place to be petted, and would even push each other out of the way for petting. After they were moved into the substrate-free 300 gallon tank, I had rare opportunity to put my hand in the tank. It is also inconvenient, as I now have to stand on stepladder to pet the fish. One day, in front of company, I got out the stepladder to pet the fish. Our pacu, Adonis, had been bullied by Leonardo, and was hanging out on one side of the tank. After petting Leonardo, I moved the stepladder to the other side of the tank to pet Adonis. I was wiggling my fingers in front of him, when Adonis decided to taste my middle finger. I was lucky he only got the side of my finger and didn't bite my finger off. It bled profusely. I've never got off a ladder as quickly as I did that afternoon. It was a very foolish thing I did, considering I was undergoing chemotherapy and had a very compromised immune system. I had to tell my oncologist what happened, and the incident is a permanent part of my medical records! It was an all around embarrassing experience!

My uncle once shoved his hand through the mouth of a monster northern pike. Sadly it's illegal to catch them for food that way so he had to release it. His arm was badly infected shortly after

My 25" ID Shark has rammed me during water changes and gravel cleaning. Once I had a bruise the size of the bottom of a coffee mug that lasted for weeks. It was my fault. He always warned me when he thought the water was low enough by playing Shamu and soaking me as much as possible. I am happy he does not have a very wide mouth and teeth. I have learned to pay attention to him during cleaning sessions.
Anyone ever get bitten by an aquarium raised ATF?
There was a thread a long time ago, with pics, that showed a members scraped and cut eye when his small ATF jumped up and bit his face.
Not really a monster but yesterday while cleaning a tank I had a bluegill grab hold of my little finger, had to shake the damn thing off. Lol.

i got bit by my ery ery many times...
my red SHs bit me once or twice before.
lucky they were less than a foot long.
my lungfish constantly thinks my fingers are food.
never been bit though.
once my scomb bit me.
really fast.
cant remember how he actually did it.
my aro once caught me off guard and bit me when i was removing a leaf from the tank.
my gar bit me when i tried hand feeding him.
left little pinholes in my finger.
i felt the power of a nandus sucking in a feeders when i handfed him.
not sure if it counts though...
and...
when i had an oscar and many tilapias,i got bit multiple times.

i have been bitten by my barramundi that emgulfed both fingers while feeding it a pilchard, no damage though,got bitten by an eel while fishing got 3 stitches on the side of my hand, tha scar looks like a cyclops smile with 1 eye and a smile, also been bit by my jardini a couple of times, mainly me not paying attention while moving things around when its feeding time,and also when i get bored at work i let the flowerhorn munch on my hand, it doesnt really hurt, but i dare my mates to do it and they r too scared i even said i would pay em, but they chcicken out, and the flowerhorn is getting sold tmro so im gonna let him have a last munch lol:headbang2
