so instead of wasting all of that glass that could be put to better uses I want to get or make a custom ray tank at first I was thinking 8'x4'x1'5" is this not tall enough? If so how tall should I go? These dimensions come out to be exactly 360 gallons? Any idea on the cost of such a custom made tank....

Those are awesome dimensions. If space wasn't a problem, I would go even wider if I could. Cost? Expect to pay close to 10g's for the tank.

Tenecor (http://www.tenecor.com/ultraquarium.php) offers a 96x48x24 for just $2700. That would be a sweet ray tank.

You'll be sastified with the 96"x48"x24". Most of my ray tanks are that dimension. Plenty of room for most ray species.
