I just recalculated great dimensions of my fish tank and found out that it is not 210 gallons, but actually 217 gallons. Well, anyway here are some pictures as it's being cycled. I will keep you updated with more pictures as I put in new fish in the future.82098

What soapfish are you talking about? I have two groupers and a snowflake eel in there, but yes they do eat a lot.

Nope im 99% sure sure you have a six lined soap fish not a grouper although it wasnt exactly the clearest pic of it. Do a search on it yourself. And get a better picture of it then i can tell better.

Still waiting on a better pic but if thats a soapfish like i think it is they can produce a poison and release it into the water if stressed. So watch out if anything picks on it.

Good setup. You definitely have enough live rock. It just takes a little time for all the rock to purple up. When it does it will look really good.

I am not sure what kind of lighting I have, but I have been told that it is the right type for live rock. It gives off a blue tinge, if that means anything? As far as the fish, I checked it out and it is a blue line grouper. Anyway, that's what it says about it at my LFS.

what the the last "s" mean? i know lp and sp are large and small polyp but that second s eludes me.
i really like frog spawn, um, Very large polyped coral like eagle eye, brain, plate, acros like staghorn (if i could ever find it.) those are reallt the only kninds i know but there are definately more that i would like to keep.

hey Cappucino, I was wondering about something. Is the lighter colored rock in your tank (second picture) live rock? It looks a lot like the lava rock I have in my freshwater tank. Just wondering if you used it as a base, then put live rock on top in order to seed it.

the abbrev sps stands for small polyp stony, lps large polyp stony

hope that clears it up for you

If you like sps and lps then you will need very intense light and lots of flow for your tank. You can get away with lower light and flow with LPS. Brains plates, etc.

Take another picture of it then and we will know for sure.
It was a really dark pic so maybe it had blue lines and i couldnt see it but to me it looked like a jet black fish with solid white lines which will end up being a six line soapfish, which is a cool fish. They might have a blue tinge because of your light like you said. Or im just wrong.
A picture will answer everything.

your snowflake eel looks totally awesome! I had one but she jumped before I learned they jumped horribly even with a hood on the tank

Cappuccino

Yes it is base rock,I use the live rock to seed the base rock. It is a lot cheaper this way.
