Can I copy and drag stuff using microsoft paint only? I dont see why not...I mean if I draw a shape and want to keep using the same shape.....would I have to FREEHAND each and every one? that would really suck. Also, in the rules it says you can use ONLY microsoft paint and this COMPLIES with that....just wanna know for sure before WASTING time. I mean I drew the original shape that took time to clean up that is. USING the paint program required.:confused:

how do you know if the avatar realy made in microsoft paint !!!Because it it REALLY basic and cheating would be quite obvious to the right eye....also the tools are VERY limited compared to ANY other program....From my experience so far, holy shipt its hard...especially if your are a perfectionist and EVERYTHING seem to look like a 3 year old drew it.:D Just gotta get the tools to work fer you;)

hmmm.....well I am an artist....and thats what I do for a living but never did ANYTHING on a computer but type....Well, I DO have a VERY steady hand considering my trade but it is VERY different on a computer.I took my time and I'm all done and submitted....so I guess I'll have to see.

It doesn't matter provided you incorporate it into the design. Color it in, add background, foreground, etc, just as long as the M is prominent in the finished work.

Also, Neo......I hope thats not the size you are going to make OUR designs as (the last one you put a link on)....considering you WOULDNT be able to see the detail I put in it. MAYBE make it a THUMBNAIL or somehow be able to see them at the size I worked on it as ( 300x300 pixels )......that would REALLY suck considering how much work I put into, and how it would go to waste.....time and design in general.:(

Just use the template "M" they gave you....that will be the main focus....Everything has to be done with the basic tools that the MS Paint program allows......lines, spraypaint, circles, etc.

If you are confused.....re read the instructions.....MS PAINT ONLY......no scanning, no copy and pasting......just use that lil' mouse and draw and color....and be sure to stay within the lines:naughty:

In the end, after 6 hours all together.....I was PROUD of what I came up with. Also, I learned a lot about how hard it is to go back to the basics, but now know that this was a great choice oppose to useing photoshop or any other programs. It shows dedication, artistic skills, and creativity. Any SMOE can cut a background and paste it. To make it from scratch is wholesome. Just trying to make my design a CLEAN one took some time.

Well I've been doing mine at work in my spare time... all on my mouse, so quit fretting about the tablet lol... So far I've got about an hour and a half into it... Kind of an off the wall theme... but gotta be creative i guess eh?

Heres a few tips I'd like to share since my playing with paint

To achieve more detail you really need to zoom in (view>zoom>large or custom size)

Turn on the grid and zoom into 800% if you really want control and would like to edit pixel by pixel.

For shading since there is no feathered brushes you really need to pick several shades of slightly off colors of what you want to shade, and work around your area... (very time consuming!)

and I've discovered to make your brushes bigger and smaller hold control and hit the + and - keys on the number pad on the right!

Theres a few tips I've discovered since playing with paint (yuck) lol....

Oh yeah, and save often, and if you think you may not like what you are about to do or it may turn out not like you were thiking, save different versions of the file so you can always go back there is no history!

if you save it as bmp you get the trueness of the colours etc... jpg will smudge all the colours, also, don't go clicky crazy, as someone said before you only get 3 undos!

Yeah I was going to add that tip about the jpg's as well but forgot... the compression algorythm in ms paint is horrible, and definitely will mess up your image!

also if your using the "line" tool, if you hold shift it makes creating straight lines a lot easier and quicker ;)

The new template people are complaining about it messing up your color boxes open it after saved, and immiediately go to "save as" then save as a 24 bit bitmap, It was saved with only 2 colors ;)

I spent waaay too much time on mine just to have to trash it and not have it count.. :'( b.t.w. guys here is another tip

The new template people are complaining about it messing up your color boxes open it after saved, and immiediately go to "save as" then save as a 24 bit bitmap, It was saved with only 2 colors ;)

presto, your color boxes will automatically be fixed ;)

or I have taken the liberty to post an already edited version where the color boxes work fine (just resaved) on my website, and will share the link here!
