i was going through some of my old pics and found some of the mated pair of anglers i owned. when i first received them they were pearl white, within a week in my tank they turned jet black and stayed that way for 1.5 years til they died. the died because i moved, when we got them to the new house, i acclimated them then released them underwater, they both went to the surface and gulped air. the air wouldn't come out and they died within a week

i yhought that male angler fish were the size of peanuts?

these were commerson or giant anglerish, they were about 8-9 inches long
i fed them a variety of squid, silversdied, clams, and smelt all soaked in vitamins
later today i will post a link to a short video clip of them eating from the feeding stick

every species of angler is different, the deep sea angler male is about a a 50th of the size of the female it actually attatches itself to the female for life
some anglerfish the difference is just in size, like with most other fish, they were actually caught in hawaii as a mated pair and hand picked by a local lfs as a special order for me
