How long should it take to go from LFS fresh water to 1.017....Should I raise SG once a week, everyday, every other day by .02?...I have a 20 gallon rubbermaid tub, is that suitable to keep one or two in for a couple of weeks?...Or should I use a 10 gallon tank....The rubbermaid has a sponge filter and heater...

BW fish are a lot tougher than your bacterial culture. If you're acclimating fish from FW to heavily brackish, you can do it over several hours or days using the drip method. On the other hand, if you're converting a FW tank to brackish, you'll have to do it gradually (e.g., the 0.02/week you mentioned) to prevent total loss of the nitrifying bacterial culture. (Gradual SG increased will ensure that only a portion of your bacterial culture dies as you move up the SG ladder and that new bacterial strains that are more SG tolerant fill the void.)

i made this mistake and wiped out my filter it was a hard lesson to learn
