when i had one, it ate anything i'd throw into the tank... pellets or live food... it'd gobble up algae as well

Mine ate flakes, bloodworms, and mysis shrimp. He didn't last too long. I think my Ornate got to him.

I feed my tank spirulina flakes and I feed frozen krill to my monsters. the fie fengs eat the leftover krill and they are growing insanly fast.

Iv seen a 6ft tank with 8 or 9 15cm Red-tailed Procolodus in it and it was as peaceful as a discus tank.

Thanks man. Now that I think of it, I've seen a couple of smaller tanks in public aquariums with several of them in it. I think I'll give multiples a try. :D

Any other personal experiences??

Ive heard of stories with people that start off with 15 and end up with 1 or 2.

The LFS I got this guy from had a few of them and they were all in separate tanks. I should have asked why while I was there but I was in a hurry.

In the wild I have seen pictures of them swimming around in schools, so i guess they could be a schooling fish. It is possible they only school when they r young and when they grow older they become more solitary..... which might explain why ppl start with 15 prochilodus and end up with 2 or 3.

I keep 2 together but I got them together at the same size and have never seperated them.. they do chase each other every so often but not bad.

Thats what i've heard aswell, they like to suck the slime coat off other fish..but i guess it all depends on each fishes personality, i got a aggressive oscar whereas my friends oscar is a puppy.

Haven't seen them suck on fish. But I've seen one that only chases angelfish. I don't know why, I think that he's got beef with em.

I had one for years, would eat food from my hand. He/She died in a panic-jump into the hood

i just got one today. and it looks a bit skinny.... but i'm attempting to feed it a meaty diet.. since he shares a 150 gallon with two silver arowana.. so pellets i'm guessing is key...
