I added in a 4.5" male jag in with my 5" Female. Immediately she started shaking her head back and forth so fast I thought she was having a seasure. She keeps picking up gravel with her mouth and spitting it out as well like shes trying to put on a show for him. She has also become more territorial chasing my bigger Festae around the tank since he has arrived 48 hours ago. Is this prespawning behavior? Shes been doing this nonstop for the past two days, is it ever going to stop? The two jags jave been inseperable since I dumpped him in there.

Yes, this is prespawn behavior.

yeah there gonna spawn soon

Yup, when i dropped a 13" male in with my 4" female she imediately began flaring and folowing him, shaking, and she bacame more aggro. Then about three or four days later... EGGS! And now there are hundreds of fry. So yes this is most definately spawning behavior. Good luck and watch that pair closely if you have other fish in the tank.

Yep, you guys hit it on the head. I watched the female rub her tube on the flower pot last night while the male went in and ate her eggs as soon as they came out. This morning there has to be around a hundred or so eggs in the pot. The Jags are tolerating my four Red Terrors. Wish it was my RT's that dropped the eggs in stead or one of my big RT males would have fertilized the eggs. Oh, well. Anyone want any frie in Wisconsin? I have never shipped before and dont plan on starting now. Otherwise they will be food soon for my Piranhas.
