I typically just call them polyopterus but sometimes I call them bikers and so I voted that one.

I'm glad I know now that we all call them sumthin diff! I said *****er one time to a fish knowitall and he roasted me.....I will try to get him to join! MFKERS!

I used to call em Bikers but got tired of explaining it wasnt some hairy arsed motorcyclist like myself so now its Poly's every time!

I chose other it's a french word it would be more like bi'(with a soft I "not saying it's name") - sher (like the name)

Dictionary.com explains that this specific fish is pronounced BICH-er (bold being the primary stressed syllable).

always said bircher, just cant break out of it, or poly or polypterus.
I used to ask lfs owners if they sell "bee-chers" and one of them told me he does not sell dogs :ROFL:
So now i call them "ber-chir".
