Well I think I am comfortable saying velvet is what infested my tank instead of ich after reading this evening.
I always read ich was white like sprinkled salt. Velvet was more brown, yellow or gold in color. I didnt realize that velvet is more prone to be a "dust" on the fish's body that can also appear white/grayish in color. That ich should be more spots not like a very finedust as velvet appears.
Also velvet will peek off the skin. Looking at pics and reading....
It makes sense now. Why it proved so fatal despite my attempts to treat the ich. My fish skin looked awful. Why some of them that died I didnt see ANY spots on them which makes sense with velvet. Some I saw dust on them not spots. I thought ich could be like a dust as it grew.
I think my tank had velvet and then ich. The velvet is what took them out so fast.
I still have 1 serpae that has dust on him. White Skirts I dont know, hard to see on them and they already have a slight orange/gold tint to their skin as is.
My fourlines as well would be hard to see as they have a gold tint to their skin as well.
All fish are healthy at this time that I have left except that one serpae has the dust on him. He is acting normal though. I am sure not for long.
