IMO rays feed on Market Prawns (MP) will grow faster & develop more mass.
However, not all ray are willing to feed on MP that willingly; hence traning is needed to convert them.
Apart from MP, u can used bate fish, gold fish, worms, & feeders of any kind.
Sure hope that answers you Q.

Thanks for the info tyson. Rays here in the US are regularly fed Black Worms ( they look like Tubifex but theyre not ) , Market Shrimps ( Prawns are too expensive) , smelt , some sinking pellets and feeder fish.

That is awesome...I am actually getting on of those soon...leopoldi right?
I've been waiting for about 6 months now for them to get on the list...they say within the next couple of weeks they should be coming in. I can't wait!

Black rays are up there on my list of most desirable fish.
They are worth the wait! Just make sure your water parameters
are perfect when you get them.

Interesting how the term "PDR" doesn't seem to be in use anymore. I'm glad the species name won out, if only to keep things a bit more clear.
