Am I all alone in this? I've been fly fishing since I was 11. I still like other types of fishing, but they don't hold a candle to landing a Brooke Trout with a three weight rod on a small Colorado stream with a lure I made myself. WHO'S WITH ME???.....Hello? Anybody?

I bet. I've done more flats boat fishing in FL for red fish, tarpon (never caught one), and permit. My favorite is Wyoming and Colorado fishing for trout. It's a religious experience.

I fly fish for bass every now and then...
I once lived in Florida in a condo that had a small canal running behind it. It had some small tarpon 3-4ft. range. On my back porch you had about 3 feet to the water and 25 feet past that to the mangroves...I'd have to cast side to side so as not to hang up on the house. I tied some salt water flies of Lefty Krehs design, never did land one of those buggers. The first time one of those guys came rocketing out of the water 5 feet in the air...It was like S#%T...did anyone else see that !!!:nilly:

I've known people who had luck catching juvy tarpons at night by docks that had underwater lighting. I went scuba diving in the Keys a few years back and we got into some murky water. We were swimming in a group trying to get out of the cloudy water when our guide stopped and pointed straight ahead; it was a huge school of man-sized tarpon crossing right in front of us. It's one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
