View Full Version : Bullchub? I think
I cought this guy in the creek a few days ago. I believe its called a bullchub or a horney chub. And it gets those spikes on its face during breeding season. Anyways its about a foot long and about 3.5" around. A pretty nice catch. We used it for catfish bait in the river!

caught that thing once b4, hooked it by the side lol.
I won't be a bull chub because they are eastern drainage fish, or a stoneroller because it is to big, probably a horneyhead chub, common in Kansas and get to 12-14". (Nocomus biguttatus)
Several of the chubs grow tubercules like that but the horneyhead is the largest in your area.

Fathead and goldfish get them to. I can't believe you killed it, I would have kept that beast.

They are a hardy fish that are often pond raised as baitfish.
