What type of sinking pellets should I use for my senegal bichir. Are hikari sinking carnivore pellets okay or something these.

The hikari pellets should be great albeit you may have to break them up a bit depending on the size of your senegal.

I feed mine spirulina discs and shrimp pellets.

I've found that Senegals will eat almost anything they find on the bottom when they're small. Flakes, bloodworms, pellets whatever.
And you would be surprised at the size food they can eat even when they're tiny. My albino senegal was a 2" little worm when I got her and she immediately ate 3 Rosie red minnows when I put her in the tank.
She looked like a bag of marbles...:)

Have a elipsifer eel with my senegals and they both eat the Hikari pellets. Some eels dont seem to take to pellets readily though. Just gotta try.

She'll probably eat them just fine. Your spiny eel probably won't eat pellets right away. They love bloodworms and you might eventually train her to pellets.

as for pellets i usually feed them sinking pellets with brineshrimp. i think thats what it is labeled, but i get it from earl may, its like $5 for a big jar of it and it seems to be as good as the more expensive "name brand" stuff.

Mine seem to prefer omega one over other brands I've tried. I usually break them up a bit for the smaller guys.

I find senegals to be the least pickiest of the bichirs when it comes to food. Mine would readily eat hikari floating cichlid pellets from the surface. My dels and ornate and sometimes my moke would also eat them. I also recommend pellets from kenfish. I've tried them and they're really good quality food and cheap too.

i feed my bichirs floating arowana sticks. sinking pellets made them lazy. now they swim everywhere lookin for pellets at the surface. even my endli now too. swimming bichirs looks way cooler then one diggin around in the dirt.

well i can't really use pellets too much anymore. my rescued 4 line thats in there for now just comes out of his hiding spot and engulfs every pellet. last night i put in about 12 pellets, 2 small salad shrimp and an earth worm, and well he got every last pellet, the worm and some of the shrimp. he has a HUGE belly now.

well i'll try pellets again now but i don't think my 5 1/2" senegal will get any.
