Almost sure it's a SHE. And yes, although most males are sterile, most females ARE fertile. They breed with almost anything... White convicts, synspillum, RDs, midas, texas, GTs, firemouths and so on.
Best regards.
Daniel.

Doesnt matter the sex. They are always sterile. Same goes when you mix a horse with a donkey. You get a mule, and its sterile every single time. Incredibly few exceptions.

Interesting, this site says max is 6", but my Marine Bio teacher has a pair that are pushing 12" each. They breed, but eggs get eaten. Funny, he keeps them with a 7" female midas/rd (who knows these days) and she gets pushed around!

They are sterile, but some breeding places are giving hormones to males to make them able to breed. To get a jellybean, it's supposidly a cross between a male convict and a female parrot. We have to jellybeans and they have laid eggs twice but nothings come of them. It's fun to watch them, we have some video of them fanning their eggs and gaurding them.
