I have heard nothing but bad things about them. Check reefcentral.com and search there for glass cages.

The answer is not so simple. Yes they produce some very good quality tanks and have made a name for themselves. They also supply the mass market. Translation: they sold out their name to low quality. To mass produce, quality is often compromised. It is common with American businesses to build up a brand name and then sell foriegn mass produced products under that name.

Easy, their not Wal-Mart
And having visited their shop they don’t need to go to another country they just bring the workers here :)
You can find bad reviews about any tank manufacture but few have prices as low as glasscages and if you could afford higher priced tanks you wouldn’t be looking at glasscages

All Glasscage's tanks are made in Tom's shop at his farm in Tenn. near Nashville. I've been there 4 times to pick up tanks. I've never had a problem with one. Without a doubt, some of the strongest made tanks available anywhere. With glass bracing around the top, bottom, and overflow boxes made of glass, not plastic, they weigh a ton! The tanks are not cleaned up after assembly, this cuts labor costs. You would probably want to clean up your new tank before filling it anyway, right? It's true Tom uses immigrant labor in his shop, but so does everyone else these days. If you can afford to buy a big name, spit polished, overpriced tank, that's fine. For everyone else that needs a good, reasonably priced tank, there's Glasscages. Tom's little shop out in the middle of nowhere allows me to be able to afford my love of monster fish. He's my hero! :)

I just wanted to say that, since I've been looking for a 180 gal, I too have been looking very closely at Glasscages, but after goggling them deep, deep, deep & reading literally for hr's. (link's from 2002-current) slow reader I guess, I just can't trust that something catastrophic won't happen, if you want I'll send you the link's about absolute catastrophic horror stories that just make you say, if it seems to be to good to be true, yep, it probably is. I've seen what 5 gal's of water look like on a floor, I wouldn't even want to imagine 100-1000+. Not to mention that some experience's weren't about a slow leak, but full 36" glass sheets just bursting    so much for concerning yourself w/ the house, floor, fish  etc. that's just down right deadly & that's just not a risk I willing to take. It's not all about the $$$. Don't get me wrong, I know any manufacturer's tank can fail, but only a 90 day warranty w/ Glascages, even if you purchase their stand's & do everything they say to the letter, well that speaks volumes, don't believe, read ALL the warrenty statement. You have to figure that if this was the case w/ other manufacturer's there would be more complaint's found on the net & I've looked, hard, so if you've read the same horror stories w/ another manufacturer, please, share. And to only be in business for such a short time & have sooooooo much bad said about you, scary, cause you would think there would be serious atten. paid to the appearent prob's. that way to many customer's have had, unless you just don't care, again chk the warrenty. The truth is out there, big picture, for Glasscages, it doesn't sound good. I'm know some of you are saying :WTF: can't be that bad, for yours, your families & not to mention your fish's sake, I hope it's not. For what it's worth, just my take, BIG PICTURE. Sorry for the long read all the time, there's just nothing short about me I guess, ok well there's that 1 thing, but they say it doesn't matter, lol, what, I meant my atten. span, really. Thank you, I'm stepping dwn now, you may proceed :) :) :)

I have been very happy with my Glass Cages 240 Gallon. They were very nice to work with. A good friend of mine has a 180 from there, and we both agree they are the nicest and strongest tanks we have ever owned. I have had Perfecto, Oceanic, All Glass as well and I will take my Glass Cages tank over them anytime.

I'II stick with Great lake Aquariums in michigan. They have the best prices. They want $500 for a 180 (6footer), comes with metal stand and they guarentee it for a year. Anything happens replaced for free. Last time I was there got a 100 and a 85 with stand for around $375 w/warranty!!!!

I would nbever buy a tank with only a 90 day guarantee. I have all glass and top fin. The top fins have a Lifetime warranty. I would rather spend the extra dollars and have confidence. Besides its my hobby so I dont mind spending the money.

Not to mention the tank is probably the worst area to start getting thrifty. The last thing someone needs is gallons of water flooding the floor, furniture, drywall and carpet. The repairs alone will cost more than the tank.

Well we all know what Chris Farley, a.k.a. "Tommy Boy" said about guarentees :grinno:
I know I am happy with my 180g from glass cages(bought used though). I know I'll never have to deal with broken plastic trim peices either. Unless I can find a better deal, most likely I will be getting a 375g from them.

This is very true, I had a AGA 110x develop a leak. Not a pretty site, luckly I was home when it happened.

A person is kidding themselves if they think a guarantee is worth anything on a tank. Unless a dealer can get a replacement from his or her distribuitor, you are not likely to get another one. I have read many threads on many forums, and it's rare anyone gets a replacement tank from anyone. The main reason for a mfg. not wanting to replace a tank, is they have no idea if it was properly set up and level, or how it has been used. An improper setup can lead to failure on any larger size tank from the uneven stress.

well I think if a company is willing to give a lifetime warranty then they stand behind their product (personally I have a 20 year warranty on my 150) if GC.com only offers a 90 day warranty then they obviously do not stand behind their products...
also from what I have heard a lot of the time shipping costs more then the actual tank...

The reason the shipping costs are bad is because they will not ship glass tanks via UPS or FedEx, so they actually using a shipping company specifically to deliver the one item to the one person. If you get acrylic they can ship UPS.
Glasscages also does shows all the time, and you can have them bring it to a convention they will be at and you can pick it up there for only $125 more. (thats assuming that you are within driving distance of the show)
as far as how good of a product they are, keep the opinions coming, because i was going to get a 150G from them but if they have a bad rep I will look elsewhere

Yeah..unfortunately the shipping from glasscages is high, around 850 to the east coast. Although the tank is cheaper in price, but the shipping was insane. I know they have shows in White Plains NY where I can pick it up for 125, but the problem is trying to get people to help out, not everyone will be available, plus the show dates is no guarantee to be a free day to go and pick up the tank. Aside from getting a van or a uhaul to pick it up, its just a major hassle trying to coordinate friends to help out plus if that show date is a good one or not.
Which is why I went with Tenecor, got the tank last week, 96x24x24 and they delivered it via freight and the shipping was around 225. The major difference is weight. The GC 96x24x24 weighed around 500~600 and the Tenecor @270 lbs.
Also the warranty from GC kind of turned me off...90 days, as opposed to Tenecor's Life Time warranty. Sure the acrylic cost me more, but when I added up the shipping and compared to GC it was about 400 difference.
Anyways...my 2 cents...I didn't get to set up the 240g tank yet...building the stand thats semi-in-wall. :naughty: So need to finish that up and put the new tank in.

Had a 180g that had been pre-owned.. while it had bottom molding issues. Where it was breaking off when you moved it either due to brittle ness or not enough glue when they glued it. Could have been and old old glass cages tank though. It was very well made. Loved that it was euro-braced and never leaked.

I had a 100 gallon aquarium from them new, great price, blew a seam after 3 months, they stood by their warranty and refunded the money. However I didn't buy their product again. So far it's all AGA and I'm happy, no problems with AGA to date, however they are limited on XL sizes

That is what you get with anything that's commerical and made in the usa.. You can't put more work into something that you're being paid for it and still stay in the green. So yeah tenecor if you got the money will give you a great tank.. buy a cheaper tank and you're sacrificing a little..

I think if you get a monster tank you could be sacrificing a lot... better buy a wet vac as well

And such is why you take the risk of paying 2k for a 500g vs 4k for a 500g.. it's all in whether you'd rather risk quality to save a couple bucks. Either way you're putting all your faith in some companys tank builders whether you're paying half the price or double the price.
BTW everyone should own a shop vac already...;)

I live in a small apartment and I dont have carpet so I just have a broom and mop... :grinno:
when I get my monster tank 300+ (when I move) I will be getting it from a local custom aquarium shop that I know I can trust not a place that tries to cut corners to lower cost or places that sells tanks for retail like big al's...
