hi all, well its time for my *****.here in australia we have a chain of new pet stores called aussie pet stores.when u purchase stock[not including live fish or frozen foods, feeders]u get a credit on a loyalty card.after myself spending at least 450dollars over 6 mths i thought i would use this built up credit the other day to help pay for my new powerhead.so guess what the girl at the counter says i had only a $2.50 credit.i said uh uh lady.she gets on the phone for ages, and apparantly they had a computer glitch which wiped peoples spending history almost right out.bastards, robbery is something that pisses me off especially when u get sucked in like i have.3 times on the phone to them since and they still havent looked in to it.they must be sooooo busy that they forget about their customers.maybe i should forget bout dem.n e 1 else had similar issues?buy the way i should have had i think at least 10-15credit & im all about principal.cause they may aswell false advertise!!!!!!

The reason I asked about receipts is because I often don't keep them, and kick myself afterwards, too. In the US, it's generally "common sense" to keep them for potential returns (they are proof of purchases) Even if the store's computer messed up, you would have your actual proof (the receipts) You don't need a computer to read those.
But receipts would have proven the amount of money you had spent - sorry about that dude
I like that it is a loyalty program. When you tried to collect, where was their loyalty?

wow, how lame... .what a crappy petshop. so they arn't looking in to it by the sounds of it... Maybe a letter to the department of fair trading is in order mate, I know it's only small, but at the same time, they can't advertise on things and then do the dirty... computer problems or not... they are at fault. a simple letter to Fair trading can and almost will fix all that up... by any chance did you pay by credit or EFTPOS on any of those transactions.. it would make life a lot easier. :P

Big Al's here in Canada has the same program. You get a membership card and everytime you purchase something the card records the purchase and you get points for the amount of money spent. And then you can redeem the points for products or a cash refund if you get enough points. I thought of something like this happening, that sucks for you man. I would be pissed as well.

Those point systems always suck.I still got 600 camel bucks from when I used to smoke.
Saved ploids for years and they shut down the program before I could get anything
Went to subway with my son,had enough point on my card for free lunch for both of us but the computer was down,so I had to pay.
They all stink dont waste the time, certainly dont factor it into your purchasing decisions

Dang, they should give you the powerhead with the money you spent there. Ask for a free Asian Aro for all the emotional hardship they caused. :)

I love this system. Usually go there on Wednesdays to do my shopping since it's double points day every Wednesday :D
That sucks about the store bennet, hopefully if you send a letter to the department of fair trading they'll do something for you or at least give the store some static over it. Maybe a letter to the news paper as well to get out publicly what happened to you and to warn potential future customers of the store.
