Today i got my first Dats. I got two of them. They are datnioide quadrifasciatus and are about 2inches. They are going into a 2x1x1 with a few L numbers. At the Momement they are eating bloodworm but i should be able to get them off it. And i've got 6 packets of the stuff in so i shuddent run out. Hopefully i should get some more soon. They are incredibly slow growers they are already a year old. I got them for £13. Is that a good price? Get ready for piccys, i apologise for my photography skills.

They have settled in well, and have gotten their yellow and black marking, but they are gasping a lot though. But it has been an incredibly hot day today, and i've got the filter making ripples on the surface. And tommorrow i'm going to set up a small air stone for extra oxyegen. Later i'm gonna give them some blood worm, i'll put up a vid of them eating it.:D

they cant be a year old and only 2". i hope whoever sold you these didnt tell you this because that is completely false information. they are somewhat slow growers, but 1 year old and 2" is way too slow.

I would get that airstone in asap. Gasping is a sign of poor oxygen, and that can get fatal quick.

I sorted the gasping problem out, the tempreture had risen by 4 degrees due to the heat and now they are ok again, and tonight when i buy a new tetratec air pump they will have a better oxygen supply.

I agree...definitely ITs. Nice pick up!!

That seems like a pretty fair price to me...for 2". One of the lfs near me sells 1" ITs for $12 each so that seems in line.

I think that they are microplepis as the polota needs brackish and they were in fresh water at the shop and fresh in my tank. I gave them some bloodworm last night and they loved it. It brought out their colours.
