I feed my Murray cod live shrimp caught in a local lake.

I don't think the shrimp themselves carry diseases that fish can catch, but diseases can certainly come in with the water the shrimp were caught in.

To be safe, I thoroughly rinse the shrimp in a net under a tap to wash all vestiges of lake water off them and then disinfect them for an hour in a ten gram per litre salt bath solution.

After this treatment they go into the tank squeakey clean and I have no problems.

cheers

Overwhelmingly, no. However, pathogenic organisms can be introduced with the water with which they're packed.
