finally sajicas breeding

hello, i have just seen my sajicas laying eggs and there still laying the is aboout 40-70 eggs and still now to come. pictures to follow.:headbang2

yep here they are sorry been busy they'll be hatching soon hopefully. the a few unfertilised eggs but only like 3 there white

i will get some more and better pics when the sun goes down so the will be no reflection and when the hatch:D

Are your Sajica really slow growing? I have two, what I believe are females, and they have not packed on the pounds over the last quarter.

if my fry do hatch there going in a 35gallon as i got given it for free at a fish shop. just need a filter and all ready to go, barley pop did you leave your fry with the parents or when did you take them out, i will have to take them out as the are bigger cichlids in there

wow as i was typin i looked up and my male sajica was staring out my big blue acara and the had a little fight and thier realy quick but then the female came to the rescue as the male was prob going to get owned. lol i good sight they can defend agaisnt the strongest biggest threat in there.

yeah i prob get another tank for them, not sure but more of the eggs are turning white and some are loose, does anyone now what happened and will the others hatch.

it should take about 4-5 days for them to hatch.

dout they'll hatch theres only like 20 eggs left now nad some are white, arwell it was there first time practice makes perfect, barley was it your sajicas first time.

well i am not sure they were breeding size when i got them. so i do not know if they had it down before i got them. but yeah the fry i have now are the first for me.

do u want pics or you want the fish barley has fry(sales person for you now barley)haha but his are fry i thought they wernt that rare in usa they re in the uk, i asked the guy about them he said he'll try and he got them in and didnt sell any cause i asked him to save the best 1s for me and i bought i female and 1 male and i went back the next day for some meds and they wer all gone and he had 30+ hes got some thorichthys elliotis in stock and hes doing the same saving them for me, he gets the stock what iam after hes sound, i would pick some up but my filter hasnt come yet i was going to put them wth my order from rapps

:grinno: I got a pair i thought u guys would like to see these pics are a couple months old now the t- bars have free swimming fry in the 75 gal now and i traded in the rd's at the lfs not long after these pics they where starting to get beefy and bully the t-bars and mine have grown a little bit since thse pics as well.

also some local guys have placed several on hold so i am not sure how many i will have left that is why i have not responded to you pm yet massy. i am waiting to find out how many one of the local guys wants. then i will know how many are left as i want to keep a few in case something happens to my breeders.

they are qute easy to sex, the 1s with red on at the end of ther fins are male and yellow edges are females, if you carnt buy any sexable ones you should buy about 6 and grow them out and you will proberly get a pair or two hopefully

Although raise the 6 like above in a 55 or larger.

if you are only going to keep 1 pair a 20-30gallon will do if its only that pair and some dithers

i keep my pair in a 38 and it is perfect !!! a 55 would be to big for just one pair and a 20 would be kind of tight.

I keep my pair a 75 gal but they have company 2x clown pleco's 1 green phantom pleco 1 rubber nose pleco 1 spotted raphel cat and 1 fire mouth and they have about 50 free swiming fry and those are growing quickly.

haha there nice, i have loads off eggs but just need them to hatch and i will seporate them, are your babies with the mum and dad? and how many you got. in about 1-2weeks the sajicas will be in a 45 with some honduran redpoint so they can both breed in there and i have a seporater incease and a 20gallon for the babies and i have asked to sjop how much for each fish they said £3 ($6)for sajica and £5($10) for honduran redpoint which is realy good.(i think) i will get pics soo of them but lately been realy tired due to s***y school

with the Sajica you can leave the fry with the parents with out a problem.

thanks iam going to remove them at wrigles stage as the are bigger firemouths and blue acaras in there, i was looking at my sajicas and i was like WTF my male is protecting the eggs and i see him strole off to my other female in the same tank and they wer quite close and i looked and i saw she had her sexual organ out i was thinging wtf my male is a P.I.M.P haha should i remove the other female sajica or leave her there? i have another (smaller) male in the other tank i might add them up thats where my hrp and elliotis are and that tank is very calm:D and i dout they would pair up and breed straight away.

and barley i just looked at your tank mates and i saw you had 5 hrps goodluck with them, i have 1pair(i think) about 1-2inch and iam getting another 4 haha iam not doing that on purpose, iam getting the 4 from rapps in 1-2weeks, were did you get them from and what size i promise i will make a new thread with the sajicas and hrp in the same thread

i did not know you had them with tank mates. yes you will need to remove the fry. I would leave the second female he may breed with both they have been known to do that.

the 3 female and one male HRP came from N-E CICHLIDS (they are very nice fish) the big male i already had. you saw a pic of him in a diffrent post.

haha looks like you are the only sorce for sajicas, you will be bugged until you get them all around. i have had a couple of PM for sajicas but they were from the USA but no british people yet, any brits want any if they hatch i can get them to you.
