Are doraodos the same as brycon?
They are simalar, bigger, more aggresive and predatory. They eat brycons.
Great fish.
I am currently building a very simalar sized fish house and setting up pretty much the same setup. 8' -3' -3' for mine.
I have had to separate mine because as soon as they hit 5" they turned on each other. My plan will involve getting either more dorado or some brycons to reduce the focused aggresion on any one fish.
could you tell me where you got them:)
link to some pics of mine.

been trying everywhere to get some.. wildwoods, wharf aquatics, various importers and wholesalers... not easy to track down in the uk!! i got these from a mate of mine that had popped into a shop on the way past one day.. he bought the last 8.. he kindly let me buy three... a few days later he went to another shop and found another three.. he has 9 now!! including his larger one!
I got mine from Wildwoods, they did have a large group which disapeared quickly. I wish i'd bought a third or fourth.
Nine would be an impresive site. How big is his larger one?
What area was your friend shopping?
Thanks

I recon they most probably came from Amwell aquatics it not to far from wildwoods and they had loads in the other day around the 4" mark.

think that was the place.. he actually found a couple more elsewhere the other day... he has 11 now!!! mine seem to getting along fine no real aggression .. yet!! they seem to have a chase and get excited and kind of snap at each other but no damage or singling out just shoal around together.

think they have grown already!!
I am going have there today. I need another two to reduce the focus of any aggression. They say they have a couple coming upto the 5" mark so I will try and grab them.
Cichla666. Do you see scales flying everywhere when they do fight?
11, thats going to be one hell of a tank when they get large.

i've seen a couple of scales but nothing serious.. as i say i haven't seen too much in the way of aggression yet... i've got some small datnoides and some small hoplarchus in with them and they all get along... probably helps that there's other fish in with them...
my mate is planning a large tropical pond... he has 10 temensis as well so it'll be an impressive site!!

just an update on the dorado situation... they were in a four foot aquarium to begin with but the largest started to harrass the two smaller ones so i moved him into a 5 foot on his own... the two smaller ones seemed to get along ok... i managed to pick up another of similar size which i originally put in the 5 foot but this last 25 minutes cos the largest one hated the new one being in his tank!! so the new pick up ended up in with the smaller two and after a couple of days of fighting they sorted out their differences... i have just set up a 400 gallon 8 foot and thought i would try all of them back in together... no problems!! they get along fine... just shoal around all day together now... the largest is about 8-9" the smallest is about 7"!
here's a pic of the tank...

love these guys one day i'll have enough room for a pack of them thats the key with these guys buy 12 or so or just one if you wan't them to look good but even when there pretty beat up there aren't many fish that can compare
