i just want to know your opinion regarding the growth of my clown knife. it is now about 22" and its been with me for around 5 years ( i got it @ 2 1/2 "). do you think it will still grow bigger? is 22" not bad for a 5 year old? is it stunted already? it is thick and chunky and very sharp and alert. it only eats feeders exclusively...

hes been in different tanks through the years. from 20 to 75 to 100 and back to a 20, now hes in a 50 gal. all alone. it would be so impossible to move him now at his size.

22" FISH IN A 50GALLON TANK?! Not cool. CKs can grow 3-4 feet if fed properly, but if you keep it in that 50g than you might as well euthanize it, cuz it WILL grow screwed up. Big fish need swimming space, man. What feeder fish type do you use? make sure you arent using goldfish.

in case your wondering people aint trying to bust your balls. What they are trying to say imagin being in a box bigenuf to barely move forwards or backwards yetalone be able to turn around in. Does it sound fun and humain? Point if fish that size needs turning room. Ima guess its already stunted from the small tanks you have kept it in. Feeder fish aint good for fish honestly if you buying the feeders they can make fish extremly sick and die off. At min you need standard 75 gal and even that to small. There deminsions are like 4 foot by foot and a half wide by 18 tall or is it 24 tall anyways you get point. It should be in 6fx2fx2f

imaginbeing in a box with only few inchs to move forwards or backward, Imagin not haveing enuf room to turn around in said box. Sound fun>? Not trying to bust your balls. But that fish is most likely stunted already. Wich isnt good at all. Anyways min tankf or you fish and i mean min is standard 75 gal and thats even on small side . they like 4fx 18inch wide x 18 or 24 inchs tall. That fish should be in 2 foot wide tank of atleast 6 foot long.

well, he lives in asia so i was thinking he might not use goldfish as feeders... hopefully they dont... Platies and barbs and danios and snakeheads would make great feederfish and a good diet for a predatory fish though

it is fed nothing but tankbred poecilia latipinna by the hundreds. he used to live in a 100 gal. tank for 3 years before being moved to a 50 about 10 months ago and i had to get a humoungous net to do that. i think he really has to go to a bigger tank. thanks pranha45 and rayman45. you guys are cool.

goldfish are bred and kept in unhealthy conditions (copper-loaded water, underfed, overstressed), so they are prone to carrying diseases transferrable to your larger fish

both goldfish and fathead minnows inherently lack a critical fish nutrient called Thiaminase, which is important in fish growth.

You can use them (emphasis on minnows rather than goldies) as a peripheral part of a fish's diet, but use fish pellets or krill or market shrimp as a staple diet for your predators.

thanks for the suggestions andrea and nick. the CK is in the 125 already with the G.Gourami. i decided not to include the bichirs with the two monsters. so far they are staying on their own side of the tank. a good thing they dont eat the same type of food. pics will come soon, when and if i get a camera (other than the disposable junk that i have).
