i want my pacus to eat feeders.

Thanks LIZ-

Sorry-I forgot about your ordeal-My condolences.....

Got alot of work left to do though-Like scapeing painting the background etc,etc,---But things are comming along nicely ne how-

I catch alot of grief for haveing a pacu in this tank-But people dont understand what kind of personalities these guys have either-If they did and they could afford to house one-They would own one,I bet..........

N e how I will try to get some better vids as soon as I get things in order.......New lighting to come this week-so I should be able to get some nicer pics at least....

Thanks for the kind words LIZ......

You have a very handsome pacu. I love how in every picture, his eyes are watching you. Our pacu are jovial fellows who love to interact with us. They are gentle, playful giants. From our experience, I assumed that all pacu were mellow fellows, but I've decided that this not the case. We were at a Thai restuarant that had an overcrowded tank with quite a few pacus and other fish. Several of the pacu were quite long, but very skinny looking. The water was a terrible yellow color. The pacu in the tank were mindlessly swimming back and forth, and would not even look at me or acknowledge me standing there. I wanted to find out who took care of the fish, but the waitress at that point acted like she couldn't speak English. I hope they were not netting the fish and serving them as someone's dinner.

I'm glad your pacu has such a wonderful home! I think the expression on your pacu's face, reflects the love and care that you give him!

Very nice pacu :) Im sure hes enjoying the upgrade as well! Pacu are such wonderful fish I have the pleasure of owning a 12"er right now...hes a wonderful fish. I hate the day he outgrows my 150G and I have to move him into my basement into a heated cattle trough. But alas my parents are against any massive tanks which I suppose is alright since Ill be moving out in about a year anyway.

Appreciate the kind words....He is always watchjhing me-When I approach the tank-He approaches the top for feedings...I can reach in and pet him and even hand feed him-He is a gentle guy for the most part, but will toss his weight around at feedings-He doesn't like to miss out on n e food of n e sort....Which is propssing a bit of a problem with the added channel cat now...But I believe before long things will sort themselves out-As long as damage isn't being done-I'm ok with things for now---Got a bit of scapeing and painting left to do but overall things are comming together nicely.....Appreciate the kind words..

Horrible story about the tia place-My pacu was a bit aggressive when younger but learned to be a community fish like he should be----All depends on tank mates and individual personalities........

Sure Does.

Got ne pics of the bad boy-I would love to see them if so....The day he outgrows the 150 should be a good day sir-Just look at it as you are doing an adaquate job of raiseing him......The cattle trough(SP) will be a bummer but it will suit his needs-

Do you have ne long term plans for the guy after the cattle trough(SP)?

Once again appreciate the kind words...

Maybe your pacu will be different.. but we decided to try a big pond in the basement for pacu when they were about 22inches ..we took them out of 220gal and once in the pond they shut down and would not eat ..we tried for 5 weeks and finally could not stand it anymore so we put them back and they ate right away and danced for joy..seems they could not stand not being able to see out... you may have to try it to see if it will be okay but chances are it won't be..they are so smart.. and after they get use to seeing you they cannot stand to be without you across from them.Just something to keep in mind.. i think the ones that grow up in the trough or pond etc are fine..

I bought the trough for a backup just incase he completely outgrew the 150 before I moved out. Now when I graduate this spring and start looking for a job that isnt food service related, and do move out of my parents home...a big tank isnt going to be a problem. My parents are against very large aquariums and then it would be hell to move it in less than a year anyway. I dread moving my 150 muchless anything else. Im definatly looking in investng in something over the 500G range for the fish currently in my 150 and maybe adding a few others as well. I think him moving into the pond will be as hard on me as it is for the Pacu :)

I do believe he is a bit stunted because I have had him around a year and hes grown from about 2" onto about 12". Altho he did live in complete muck for the first 3-4 months of his life, and was eaten up with fin rot, fungus and some sort of bacterial infection when I got him. My friend bought the fish from walmart and was going to flush him still alive when he was sickly in her 10G tank. Now he has pristine water, and gets fresh fruits and veggies and lots of fresh seafood as well. Hes a happy fish from what I can tell :)

I do have pictures of him on my memory card...my cameras USB cable bit the dust or Id have uploaded them. Im going to see about taking my memory card and making a picture disk from it.

Also what happened to your Pacus Liz? Were you forced to part with them?

Their tank exploded from a fire under their tank..i have a thread here about it .. we tried to save them by putting them in the pond indoors but they did not make it..only the african cichlid survived and thank fully everyone else.. It was the pacu tank that put the fire out...:( i would never have parted with my pacu.. i have since set up a new tank in the same spot with CK in it.. Thank you for asking...
