So I was changing the water in my tank today and my temensis cichla decides to launch out of the tank and behind the stand. I saw him, but couldn't get to him for about 30 sec or so, while he flopped around on the wood floor and picked up lint and dust. I finally was able to reach him and placed him back into the tank. He looked ok, but still had some lint on him.

I assume the tem lost some scales, since there was some residue on my hand. I added some extra slime coat protector and raised the temp from 80 to about 84. Is there anything I should do to insure that my tem doesn't get any sort of infection from this incident?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

he should be fine

sounds good what you did

if he is swimming normaly and not breathing heavy and spazzing out or swimming upside down or something like that he should be fine

might want to add a little extra salt to the water also. But if you are not seeing any differences in behaviour he should be fine with what you have already done.

you did ok..its is a stressfull event when they fall out of reach...

Haha... probably more stressful for me than the fish. lol. Thanks for the advice. I'll keep a close eye on him and add a bit of salt tonight as a precaution.

Thanks guys!
