We have some gnats in our house and we catch them by using a small tub of sugar water. If I dump that in the tank ( I know they'll eat them) will the sugar have any negative effect? Thanks in advance.

(If it matters, we're feeding community fish such as half beaks, barbs, and tetras)

Considering that they are community/feeder fish, who cares?? Jk, I don't know, I guess if its a little bit of sugar you might be ok, just watch your fish so they don't run into things when there sugar high.:D

i doubt the fish can handle the consentration of sugar needed to attract the gnats

Your collection is too nice to bother. Considering that your loach collection increased by 50% this weekend, I wouldn't risk it.
