The dollar a gallon level is hard to pass up for the tank alone....the stand...lights and filter system...even if not the best are a bonus.

The standing rule on hot deals is that if you don't jump on it, someone else will. Consider yourself extremely lucky if it is still available. Expect the guy to be telling anyone that will spread the word that the tank is for sale. If the tank was advertised, it is already gone.

150's from allglass come in two styles:

72x18x28high

or

48x24x30high.

No one around my area seems to have a 5 foot 150, although that is the better style IMO, except the Cadillac of fish tank, Oceanic..

both perfecto and allglass have these styles of 150 but not the 5 foot x 2x2.

Oceanic has a 150 that is 5x2x2 (they call it a 156) but it is like $1200 canadian for just the TANK alone.

My LFS has one (a kit for $2500 has a nice wood cabinet, glass top, canopy and light) that I drool on every time I am there..:)

the only down fall is its up 1 flight of stairs... :(

Go to HD or Lowes and buy some rope and pulleys to set up a block and tackle. Set the tank on plywood and slide it down the stairs. You will need something strong with wheels to get it from A to B. You won't want to carry it for very far (or at all). Rent a hand truck from U-haul and strap it to it.

I bought a hand truck from Harbor Freight for $25 and it was money well spent. My brother and I moved my 250g by our selves, but didn't have to deal with stairs.

well i have a hand truck and all that crap, just need to make time, i work 10 hour days, and i have to fit the other guys scedule, he is constally in and out becasue he is moving.

also will i need to like reinforce my floor for a 200g tank?

12 Volt Man
07-10-2007, 10:34 AM
are you going to put it on a mainfloor?

rxracer
07-10-2007, 10:58 AM
well im going to be buying a house in august, and it wont be set up untill then, and its going to be a single floor house....

CHOMPERS
07-10-2007, 11:33 AM
It depends on your floor and where you put it. Choose the placement near an exterior wall or a load bearing wall. Make sure the joists run perpendicular to the tank placement and not parallel to it.

rxracer
07-10-2007, 1:34 PM
so what should the dimensions of a 200g be?

dr_sudz
07-10-2007, 1:48 PM
does your one floor house have a basement? or a crawl space? Its easy enough to sure up the floor if its a crawl space. As long as your grabing your floor joists perpendicular to your tank you should be fine and its a load bareing wall (doesn't have to be an outside wall just well supported to your foundation of the house)

rxracer
07-10-2007, 2:03 PM
dont know yet, i have to find the house first..LOL but i know it wont be 2 story house, i cant afford one that big..LOL

this will be my first house..

saltydog_1
07-10-2007, 6:02 PM
buy a house with a basement, then you can have a fish room lol

rxracer
07-10-2007, 6:08 PM
LOL where i am, a house with a basement is few and far between, and some of the houses with them arnt fully finished, with dirt and crap. im on a rather limited budget though casue its my first house and all.

right now im on a well at my parents house, and im rather worried about using city water and treating it and all... :(

12 Volt Man
07-10-2007, 9:25 PM
city water should be fine. just use a good dechlorinator ad you are good to go.

ercnan
07-10-2007, 9:31 PM
Use Prime for declor., and if the house you find and buy is a "slab home", no worries.
Joisted homes with crawlspaces can easily be strengthened if you don't mind crawling on your belly like a snake, and basements are better than a second story IMO. Concrete floor ( no weight issues), and more stable in temps. throughtout the year.

doubledragon
07-10-2007, 10:00 PM
Agreed, Basements are much better than a second story!!! I can't wait till I buy my own house!
