Hey everyone,
Just wondering how high is everyone's stand and from personal experience what would be the optimum height of a stand from both the standing/sitting point of view for a typical 90 gallon tank in a living room?
Your feedback is appreciated
Thanks!

my 55 is 4 feet 8 inches to the top and my 90 should be around the same hight after the canopy is done.

When I made the stand for my 210 I made it 32",so the sump would fit.

At the moment all of our tank stands are 2 feet high. The stand thats under construction for the 240 will be built along the same pattern but is designed about 4" shorter. 30 to 36 inches would be better as far as viewing the fish goes but I married a short woman who would have trouble maintaining anything taller when I'm not home.

my 90 sits on a stand that is 29 inches high.
I think it looks about perfect - not too low when looking at it standing up, yet still looks like a giant window when sitting in front of it.
thats my beef with a lot of the nice cabinet setups available out there: they are not tall enough and the tank sits too low to the ground IMO.

I built my 125's too low, at least to put a w/d under it, but sitting in a chair/couch, it's the perfect level for viewing. Plus, at 6'1", I can still reach the bottom even with the canopy on without a stool/small ladder.
XP2's are under it, XP3's would fit, but anything taller is a no-go.

I want to be able to stand in front of my tanks and look into the tank. I don't want to have to bend down to see my fish. Since I'm 6' tall this means that the top of my tanks are about 6' with the stands around 4' tall.

:iagree:
You shouldn't have to bend over to look at the tank, and short people (kids) should be able to see in without getting something to stand on. Standing on something to clean it is just part of the job (you clean it once a week but look at it daily).

Stand = 32 inches
tank = 30 inches
hood = 10 inches
= 6ft
(hence the use of a ladder when feeding time is at hand :( )
